We train and provide appropriate information to the young people on sexual health education. with these trainings and information reach out, young people are able to know and understand issues concerning adolescent development needs for example:
Most of the information on adolescence sexual health is directly disseminated through training workshops for young people where different approaches to facilitation/training are used, with the company if diagrams for example displaying the different sexual parts of a male and a female.
We have delivered several activities on HIV/AIDS for young people using different strategies. Trainings on prevention strategies: we provide young people with appropriate information on how they can avoid and protect themselves from contracting HIV/AIDS. VCT: As a member of the Network of Health Actors (NETHA) we have worked with UNICEF to organized free VCT (HIV screening) for youths in some rural communities.
Production of IEC materials: We develop and distribute IEC materials on HIV/AIDS awareness for youths. The materials are distributed free in various communities and some schools. Peer education: We train peer educators in communities to form clubs and design own action plans to sensitise youths on STIs including HIV/AIDS.
ChangeMaker’s Project: Engaging young men in the fight against gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS
The project engaged young men aged 18-30 in the fight against HIV/AIDS and empower them to challenge cultural traditions/beliefs and practices that surround male toxic sexuality by providing them with information and skills to tackle GBV and take equal responsibility for behaviours that compromise their own health as well as the health of others. The project was sponsored by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in partnership with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO).
